The Commission of Detainees' Affairs denounced the detention of the executive director of the Health Work Committees Shatha Odeh, from her house at Ein Musbah neighborhood in Ramallah.
The Commission stated that the Israeli occupation forces had stormed the headquarter of the Health Work Committees institution last month and closed the main door of the institution, posted a military order on the door stating that the closure will be for 6 months, and prevented the employees from entering their offices.
The Commission pointed out that the occupation authorities are targeting this institution since its establishment, where many of its employees have been arrested.
The head of the commission of detainees' Affairs Major General Qadri Abu Bakr, warned about the dangerous and alarming deterioration of health conditions for the hunger-striking detainees, Ghadanfar Abu Atwan, (28), and the sick detainee, Iyad Hrebt, (39), both from Dura, south of Hebron.
During his visit, Abu Bakr and a delegation from the commission to the tent of solidarity with the detainees Abu Atwan and Hrebat ,stated that the health condition of Abu Atwan is deteriorating seriously and there is a actual concern that he might lose his life or might have failure in his organs amid a state of raciest Israeli stubbornness and the silence of international community.
He added there is a real concern that Abu Atwan might have a heart failure due to the continues strike since (57) days and restraining from taking supplements and that suffers from severe weight loss, weakness in his heart beats, severe chest ,joints and waist pain, suffocation attacks and recurrent coma.
He also pointed out that the detainee Iyad Hrebat from Hebron, who has been arrested since 2002 )and sentenced to life imprisonment, a crime of medical ignorance was committed against him after the suspicion of giving him contamination injection which caused bacterial spread in his body in( 2014).
Besides, he was spared with toxic gas which caused burns in his body during an attack against detainees at the Remon prison,
Then he was diagnosed with neurological disease which caused shivering, speech problems, movement problems and temporary memory loss.
However, the occupation authorities did not provide the appropriate medical treatment under the policy of slow and deliberate murder, which is practiced against Palestinian detainees.
Abu Baker called on the international community and the international humanitarian and human rights organizations to stop the slow murder of both detainees Abu Atwan and Hrebat before it is too late.
The Commission of Detainees' Affairs stated that the Israeli occupation forces extended the detention of the injured detainee Muhammad Aranda from Nablus, for 8 days to complete the interrogation.
The commission pointed out that the detainee is currently held at Penselon hospital, and his health condition is stable.
It is worthy to mention that the occupation forces have arrested Aranda in 25/6/2021, after shooting him in the abdomen and left leg.
The Commission of Detainees' Affairs denounced the acts of suppression and attacks committed against the detainees of Ofer prison by "YAMAZ and DROUR" Special Forces.
The commission stated that "YAMAZ" Special Forces and another unit from the prison stormed section (21) and attacked its detainees and destroyed their belongings, and then moved them to section (18), which created a state of tension and irritation among detainees.
Moreover, the incursion was carried out without any justification, and the Special Forces intended to provoke the detainees on purpose, where they damaged the detainees' belongings and stuff.
The Commission said that the occupation authorities hold full responsibility on the incidents of Ofer prison and called on the international human rights organizations to intervene and stop the Israeli crimes against Palestinian detainees.
It is noteworthy that (120) detainees are currently held at section (21), which includes the highest number of Ofer's detainees.
RAMALLAH 6/29/2021 Wafa - Dozens of citizens participated in the weekly sit-in in front of the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the city of Al-BEERA attribution to the striking and sick detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons.
Pictures of sick and detainees on hunger strike were carried by the participants in the sit-in calling for immediate action to release sick prisoners and to end the policy of administrative detention.
Fatah movement, the Commission of Detainees' Affairs, the Supreme commission of detainees affairs and the Palestinian' Society prisoner's club each of them called to organize the stand In support of the demand of the detainees (Ghdanfar Abu Atwan), who has been on a hunger strike for 56 days in protest against administrative detention, and the sick prisoner (Eyed Haribat) and the rest of the sick detainees in the occupation prisons who are subjected to continuous medical crimes.
The head of the Commission of Detainees' Affairs, (Qadri Abu Bakr), confirmed that the critical health condition of the detainee, (Ghadanfar Abu Atwan) is a result of his hunger about two months ago, which requires urgent intervention from the international community and international human rights institutions, in order to compel the Israeli authorities to drop the administrative detention on him.
He added to "Wafa", that the Supreme Occupation Court issued a decision last Thursday to freeze the administrative detention order against the detainee (Abu Atwan), at the request of the Military Prosecution, According to medical reports issued by the Israeli "Kaplan" hospital, which indicate that there is a real danger to the detainee's life.
He also pointed out that the decision to freeze the administrative detention constitutes a circumvention of the demands of Ghadanfar, who fought the battle of the" empty intestines" in pursuit of freedom, The freezing enables the occupation authorities and the military governor to restore the administrative sentence to the prisoner after his hunger strike was ended, his health condition improved, and he was released from the hospital.
Abu Baker referred to a meeting held with ambassadors, diplomats and representatives of foreign countries, in which the commission called for a national intervention to force Israel release the detainees who are on hunger strike, in addition to sick detainees, including Iyad Hrebat and Muwafaq Erouq.
The detainee Hrebat in currently held at Soroka Hospital in bad health condition, where he suffers from bacteria in his body and weakness in the lung. He was subjected to medical ignorance since he got problems in the nerves after arresting him in 2002.
Another case in point is the detainee Muwafaq Erouq (78 years). He has a difficult health condition and he is currently held at Ashkelon prison. He has cancer in the liver and stomach, and also he has problems in the lungs and vomits every day, in addition to the continuous fatigue and pains all over his body.
The Commission of Detainees' Affairs stated that the prisons' administration provided the sick detainee Muhammad Barrash an expired medication, and he is currently held at Ashkelon prison.
Barrash told the lawyer of the commission that he discovered before two weeks that the prisons' administration had provided him with an expired medicine of cholesterol, and he informed the administration of Ashkelon prison, but in vain.
The commission pointed out that the detainee Barrash is one of the difficult medical cases in Israeli prisons, and giving him an expired medication will affect him and worsen his health condition, especially that he suffers from many chronic diseases and needs special care. Moreover, his left leg is amputated, his sight is very week, and he suffers from loss of hearing due to ulcers in his ears.
He needs an urgent surgery in his ears, and there is a defect in his lamb which needs a special examination. However, the administration of Ashkelon prison procrastinates in providing him the appropriate medical care.
It is worthy to mention that Barrash (44 years) is from Amaari camp/Ramallah, and he is detained since 2003 and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The Head of the Commission of Detainees' Affairs, MG. Qadri Abu Baker warns from the dangerous health condition of the detainee Abu Atwan (28), who is on hunger strike since two months, in a protest against his administrative detention.
Abu Baker stated that the detainee suffers from numbness and fluid loss, which may cause damage in the functions of his organs. He might be paralyzed or becomes a martyr at any time due to the recurrent relapse and coma.
Moreover, Abu Baker pointed out that the Israeli occupation still deal with the case of Abu Atwan with carelessness and do not provide any actual solution. They seek to ignore his health condition and let him die, preventing him from attaining his demands of ending his administrative detention.
Abu Bakr held the occupation fully responsible for the life of the captive Abu Atwan, and called on the international community and international institutions to practice pressure against the Israeli authorities to immediately release him and save his life before it is too late, and called on the Palestinian people for continuous solidarity with him until victory is achieved.
It is noteworthy that the occupation authorities issued a decision to freeze the administrative detention of the detainee Ghadanfar Abu Antwan, who was arrested on October 2020, and announced his hunger strike 61 days ago, but the occupation authorities keep him detained inside the Israeli "Kaplan" hospital.
The head of the Commission of Detainees' Affairs Qadri Abu Baker, the deputy head of the Palestinian Society Prisoner's Club Abdullah Zghari, the head of Hureyyat Center of Civil Rights Hemli Aaraj and the head of the Supreme Commission of Detainees' Affairs Amin Shouman called on the International Community to intervene and save the lives pf detainees on hunger strike. The also called to confront the arbitrary and illegal Israeli policies and crimes against detainees, prevent Israel from breaching the international law, provide protection for detainees and allow an international investigation committee to work from inside the prisons.
These demands were discussed during a meeting organized by detainees' institutions in cooperation with the PLO Negotiations Affairs Department, where the participants informed the international parties about the serious conditions lived by detainees and the crimes and violations committed against them recently.
Participants reviewed the most prominent racist policies exercised by Israel, including the policy of torture, preventing visits, collective punishments, military courts, administrative detention, in addition to the issue of hunger strike, such as the case of the detainee Ghadanfar Abu Atwan and the crimes of medical ignorance, such as the case of Iyad Hrebat and Muwafaq Erouq.
Participants said Israel holds full responsibility on detainees' lives and called on international human rights organizations and members of international community to intervene and oblige Israel to implement the rules of the international law to guarantee all their rights.
The Commission of Detainees' Affairs confirmed that three detainees in Israeli prisons, are still continuing their strike: Ghadanfar Abu Atwan, Jamal Taweel and Khader Adnan.
Abu Atwan is 28 years old, from Hebron. He is on hunger strike since 47 days against his administrative detention. He is held at Kaplan Hospital.
While the detainee Jamal Taweel (59 years) from Ramallah, is continuing his strike since 18 days, demanding the freedom of his daughter Bushra Taweel, who is held under administrative detention. He is currently held at Hasharon Prison.
The detainee Khader Adnan (43 years) from Jenin, is on the 22nd day of hunger strike, protesting against his administrative detention. He is currently held at Jalameh detention center.
The Head of the commission stated that the occupation authorities hold full responsibility on the lives of detainees and their fate, and called on the necessity of supporting their struggle against the occupation.
