Head of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, Raed Abu Al-Hummus, today, Monday, condemned the international silence and failure to act regarding the practices carried out by the Israeli occupation against Palestinian male and female detainees, particularly by the hateful and extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Abu Al-Hummus said: “The footage captured by the cameras of the police and prison administration documenting Ben-Gvir’s raid on the cell of the leader Hassan Salameh yesterday, Sunday, as well as the threats and intimidation issued by this extremist, and the arrogance and insolence he displayed while surrounded by his guards and prison officers, demonstrate that degradation and depravity have reached their highest levels.”
He added: “Where is the international community and its institutions? Have all international bodies lost their authority to address the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s freedom fighters? Is what is being practiced inside prisons and detention centers not organized terrorism? How long will this crime continue to escalate before the eyes of this ineffectual world? It is time to answer all these questions clearly and acknowledge the state of abandonment that we are living through and being subjected to.”
Abu Al-Hummus stressed that such practices and assaults will not undermine the determination of our detainees and freedom fighters. However, allowing them to continue in this manner without the world taking action amounts to a green light and an official authorization to continue this criminal, racist extremism. While the Palestinian people are paying the price of this hateful occupation today, the world should be prepared to witness similar acts on its own soil and at the hands of the same group, because the Israeli occupation state and its tools pose a threat to the entire world.
It is worth noting that Hassan Salameh, from the Gaza Strip, has been detained since 1996. He was handed an unjust sentence of 48 life terms, in addition to 30 years in prison. He is among the detainees whom the Israeli occupation authorities have refused to release in all previous prisoner exchange deals.

Detainee Qusay Alian endures serious health conditions in Gilboa Prison amid deliberate medical neglect

Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that detainee Qusay Alian, a resident of the occupied Jerusalem town of Issawiya, is enduring severe suffering in Gilboa Prison. He suffers from lung disease, asthma, and shortness of breath, and is serving a 14-and-a-half-year prison sentence. He was arrested on 14 December 2021 and has since been transferred between several prisons, during which he lost 16 kilograms of weight. His body is also covered with boils.

Regarding the circumstances of his arrest, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said in a report issued today, Sunday, that Israeli occupation forces blew up the door of his home and then took him to the al-Moskobiya interrogation center, where he was subjected to a strip search. This was followed by some of the most difficult days of his interrogation, which would only stop when he was allowed to use the bathroom.

He also spent 20 days in solitary confinement during the interrogation in a cell unfit for human habitation. The cell had no windows and was extremely dark, while its walls were covered with protrusions that made it difficult to lean against them. It was painted dark gray and contained a dirty mattress consisting of a piece of plastic that provided no comfort, with no pillow.

Alian told the Commission’s lawyer that after his interrogation at al-Moskobiya ended, he was transferred to Megiddo Prison, where he was again subjected to a strip search before being taken to the prison section. According to his testimony, he remained in Megiddo Prison for approximately four months before being transferred to Nafha Prison. Following the outbreak of the war on the Gaza Strip, he was transferred to Shatta Prison, where he remained for nearly two years before being transferred to Gilboa Prison, where he continues to be held to this day.

He also reported that he was subjected to severe beatings, verbal abuse, and threats that his brother’s home would be demolished during the transfers between prisons.

He describes the detention conditions in Gilboa as extremely difficult, particularly due to severe overcrowding. Some detainees are forced to sleep on the floor because there is insufficient space. Food is scarce and poor in both quantity and quality, and is insufficient to meet their nutritional needs, resulting in most detainees losing weight. They are also prohibited from speaking with detainees held in other rooms.

 Alian requires prescription eyeglasses, examination by a specialist, and the necessary medical tests to monitor his lung condition, asthma, shortness of breath, boils, and weight loss.

Visits by his lawyers take place while he is handcuffed behind his back and shackled, with his head bowed. He is required to speak with his lawyer by telephone through a glass barrier.

Female detainee Zikra Raafat Saeed Nasser, 23, is suffering from scabies due to the difficult health conditions in prison. She was arrested on February 9, 2026, and is from Deir Sharaf, near Nablus.
Detainee Zikra, who is being held at Damon Prison, has not received any treatment either for scabies or for urinary tract infections, which she has been suffering from since her arrest and as a result of being held in inhumane living conditions.
The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said in a report issued today, Monday, following a visit by one of its lawyers to the detainee, that Israeli army forces raided her father’s home at around 1:30 a.m. and arrested her after subjecting her to a strip search. “They prevented me from changing my clothes or saying goodbye to my family, and they photographed me with their mobile phones,” she said.
She was subjected to insults and shouting during her arrest. The soldiers threw her onto the floor of the military jeep, where she was prevented from moving until around 7:00 a.m. Whenever she moved, she was severely beaten on her back.
“Later, I was taken to the Qaddumim area, where they placed me on the ground next to the dirt. They took pictures next to me while laughing and mocking me, and severely beat me on the head and face, causing me severe pain. After that, I was transferred to the Russian Compound (Moscobiya), where I was kept blindfolded and shackled from the afternoon until 9:00 p.m.”
At the Moscobiya detention center, the detainee was also subjected to a strip search. Female soldiers confiscated her prayer clothes and headscarf and photographed her. She remained there for 17 days, describing the facility as “a slaughterhouse.”
She said: “The cells resemble graves. The bed is made of concrete with a thin plastic mattress and no cover. They gave us two very light blankets. Despite the cold weather and the cold conditions inside, they turned on the air conditioner over our heads in February. There was no source of lighting. The food was very bad, and the conditions were unfit for human habitation.”
“On the 18th day of my detention, I was transferred to Ramle. It was one of the worst days of my life. The weather was extremely rainy, and they placed us in an outdoor waiting room where the winds were very strong. I was fasting for Ramadan. The following day, I was transferred to Damon Prison, where I have remained until today. There, I was subjected to a strip search for the third time.”
There are currently around 81 female detainees at Damon, excluding those being held in interrogation.
The detainee described the detention conditions at Damon as “very bad.” She said the food is insufficient and of poor quality, while the recreation period is very short.
“We are allowed to shower and clean the room during this period, which takes place in the early morning hours, around 5:30 a.m. During recreation, we are prohibited from speaking. There is severe overcrowding in the rooms, and several detainees sleep on the floor in each room.”
The female detainees have been subjected to repeated repression since Zikra’s arrest. The first incident took place on March 5, 2026, and was particularly severe. At around 6:00 a.m., the detainees were taken to the yard after being shackled and blindfolded.
The second incident occurred on Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, April 17, 2026, when the detainees were beaten and subjected to physical abuse. As a result of the beating, the detainee suffered a tear in a tendon in her left hand.
Two days later, the female detainees were subjected to another raid. The detainee said: “In March, we were subjected to four raids, and in April, we were subjected to 11 raids.”
She described the incident on May 13, 2026, as the worst, saying it took place in the early hours of the morning and involved severe beatings and extremely abusive and degrading verbal harassment.
On May 5, 2026, “we were raided in cold, rainy weather. We were taken out of our rooms after being shackled and blindfolded and placed in the recreation yard in the rain. They ransacked the rooms and confiscated food, clothes, dishes, and everything else in the rooms without any reason.”
The detainee also referred to Itamar Ben-Gvir’s visit to the female detainees’ section, specifically Rooms 3 and 8, saying that the treatment became worse after his visit.
Around 10 days before the visit, the detainee’s room was subjected to a raid. “They took us out of the room and placed us in a small room. There were 11 female detainees with us. They confiscated clothes and belongings, isolated several detainees, and later took them out.”

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs revealed in a report issued today that the difficult detention, living, and health conditions experienced by prisoners in Janout Prison continue to deteriorate, amid escalating repression and search measures, ill-treatment, an acute shortage of clothing and food, as well as medical neglect affecting sick prisoners.
Prisoner Osama Fathallah Al-Shinni, who has been detained since November 20, 2024, is being held in “Janout” Prison. He was interrogated at Ofer Prison for 30 days, then transferred to Nafha Prison for 20 days, followed by Ramon Prison, and finally to Janout. Al-Shinni suffers from a herniated disc in his back, for which he previously underwent surgery in 2022. He currently suffers from severe pain and deliberate medical neglect by the prison administration, which refuses to provide him with any painkillers.
Regarding the conditions inside the prison, Al-Shinni told the Commission’s lawyer that the prison guards continue to treat them poorly and that searches are carried out almost daily, amid a shortage of personal necessities. As for the food, he said its quality is poor, noting that a number of prisoners in the section are suffering from severe malnutrition, which has clearly affected their weight. Al-Shinni himself has lost 35 kilograms during his detention. He also has only two changes of clothes, while prisoners in the section generally suffer from a shortage of underwear.
Regarding “the yard time” (al-fawra), it lasts approximately one hour per day, but its timing is irregular and varies, and is affected by the punishments imposed by the prison administration.
Prisoner Qassam Abdul Karim Shibli, who has been detained since August 26, 2019, remains in detention. He was transferred between the Moscobiya Investigation Center, where he spent 78 days, then Ofer Prison for two months, and subsequently Nafha Prison. This was his first visit since the beginning of the events of 7 October 2023.
Shibli noted the continued raids and repression targeting prisoners’ rooms and sections. He stated that three days before the visit, on 4 September 2026, units from the “Metsada” and “Yamam” forces raided several rooms, including the room where he was staying. They assaulted the prisoners using rubber bullets, tear gas grenades, and beatings, resulting in injuries to two prisoners. The prisoners were not informed of the reasons for the crackdown.
Prisoner Fadi Ahmad Abu Al-Rub, detained since 21 March 2026, remains in detention. During a visit by the Commission’s lawyer, he stated that they are subjected to continuous provocations and insults, amid ongoing raids and searches of rooms and sections.
Regarding food, Abu Al-Rub said that prisoners are suffering weight loss as a result of the systematic starvation policy in the occupation prisons, noting that he has lost 15 kilograms of his weight.
In the same context, prisoner Ashraf Mohammad Hassan Al-Zaghari, from Dheisheh Refugee Camp, who has been detained since 28 December 2022 and remains in detention, suffers from previous injuries sustained before his arrest, including gunshot wounds to both the right and left knees. Shrapnel remains lodged in his body. He also sustained an injury to his left ear as a result of a repression operation he was subjected to while being held in Ofer Prison approximately a year and a half ago. He explained that since then he has suffered from pain, hearing loss, and ringing in his head, alongside deliberate medical neglect and extremely poor detention conditions in terms of personal necessities, repression, insults, and poor-quality food.
Prisoner Ahmad Mustafa Balidi, from Salfit, who has been held under administrative detention since 2 February 2025, suffers from scabies, without receiving any medication or ointment, further worsening his health condition.
The prisoners’ suffering is not limited to the harsh conditions of detention; it also extends to depriving them of their basic humanitarian needs, while raids and repression continue without justification, further exacerbating their suffering, particularly that of sick prisoners who are forced to endure both pain and medical neglect.

Three prisoners face difficult health and humanitarian conditions in Ofer Prison

The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs reported deteriorating health and humanitarian conditions for three Palestinian prisoners held in Ofer Prison, including an elderly prisoner suffering from chronic illnesses and the effects of an assault he was subjected to during his arrest, according to statements by prisoners and testimonies from released detainees.
The Commission explained that Israeli occupation forces arrested prisoner Maher Rizq Abdul Nasan (60) from the village of Al-Mughayyir/ Ramallah, on July 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. He was arrested from inside his vehicle at a checkpoint in the Ain Sinya area. Contact with him was then lost for several hours, before it was later discovered that he had been detained.
According to testimonies from released prisoners who met with him, Nasan was subjected during his arrest to severe beatings and was detained for hours under the sun. Cigarettes were also extinguished on his body. His vehicle was confiscated for a week, while personal documents, identification cards, and land ownership documents that he had with him were also confiscated.
According to the Commission, Nasan suffers from chronic illnesses that have worsened as a result of detention conditions and medical neglect, including a herniated disc in the fourth vertebra. He had been scheduled to undergo surgery prior to his arrest. He also suffers from inflammation in a joint in one of his legs, colon problems, abdominal pain, as well as severe and persistent pain in his shoulder, back, and chest resulting from the assault during his arrest. The effects of the beatings remain visible on his body. His health condition is further aggravated by the fact that he receives no treatment and that the prison administration is deliberately neglecting his medical needs.
It should be noted that Nasan is a former brigadier general in the Preventive Security Service. He is currently serving the second month of a four-month administrative detention order. He is the father of three sons and four daughters.
In another testimony, the Commission stated that prisoner Rafiq Raed Rafiq Qabaj (23) from the city of Al-Bireh has been detained since February 12, 2026. A second administrative detention order has been issued against him, with each order lasting four months.
The Commission’s lawyer explained that Qabaj is a university student studying pharmacy and that his latest arrest is the third since the beginning of the war. He was previously arrested in August 2024 and released in October 2025 after serving his detention period in Gilboa Prison.
Qabaj has suffered from an elevated heart rate since before his arrest and requires medication to regulate it. He also suffers from scabies, which has spread throughout the entire section due to the lack of hygiene.
The Commission also reported that prisoner Ali Abd Eid Barghouthi, from the town of Beit Rima, northwest of Ramallah, has been detained since December 15, 2025. At the time the testimony was prepared, he had spent nine months in detention and does not suffer from any health conditions.
Barghouthi stated that prisoners are unable to change their clothes regularly and wash them during the recreation period without cleaning materials, due to insufficient quantities provided for all prisoners in the same room. There is also a shortage of underwear, which contributes to the spread of scabies.
He added that repression inside the section is repeatedly carried out at specific intervals through raids on rooms, searches, destroying prisoners’ belongings, and confiscation of some of their possessions. Meanwhile, the prison administration deliberately prevents prisoners from performing communal prayers and punishes those who lead the prayers.
The Commission called for urgent intervention to ensure that prisoners receive the necessary medical care, particularly sick and elderly prisoners, and to put an end to assaults and medical neglect. It also called for improving humanitarian conditions inside Israeli occupation prisons in a manner that guarantees prisoners’ rights in accordance with international and humanitarian rules and standards.

The Commission of Detainees Affairs reported today, Monday, that Palestinian detainee and physician Dima Mohammed Amin, 54, is experiencing a deterioration in her health following her arrest on August 18.

In a report issued following a visit by the Commission’s lawyer to Amin at the Moscovia Interrogation Center, the Commission explained that Amin developed symptoms of a heart attack following her arrest and subsequently underwent a cardiac catheterization procedure. She continues to suffer from low blood sugar levels, blood pressure fluctuations, high cholesterol, and dizziness.

Amin, a gynecologist working in Ramallah, spoke during the visit about the harsh detention conditions she is facing, pointing to the lack of even the minimum necessities of life inside the cell and the severe psychological pressure accompanying these conditions.

She said that being held alone in the cell for prolonged periods, coupled with the detention conditions, causes significant psychological and mental distress. She also pointed to the lack of clothing, explaining that she has only the clothes she was wearing at the time of her arrest, forcing her to wash them and wear them again while still wet.

The detainee added that the cell offers no privacy and lacks adequate space for changing clothes, while the amount of food provided to the detainees remains insufficient.

Amin further noted that prison guards deliberately engage in continuous shouting, banging on cell doors, searches, and repeated insults, further exacerbating the harshness of the detention conditions.

Regarding the period of outdoor exercise, known as the “fawra,” the detainee said: “We are forcibly taken out in order to drag and humiliate us, and are made to stand in a corner for some time without being allowed to move.”

The Commission affirmed that the detainee’s account reflects the harsh conditions she is facing inside the interrogation center, particularly given her health condition, which requires continuous medical monitoring and care amid what the Commission described as deliberate medical neglect.

As part of efforts to address the health and treatment needs of released prisoners who were deported and to provide the necessary support to overcome the diseases and health conditions caused by their long years of detention, a high-level official delegation, comprising Head of the Commission of Detainees Affairs Raed Abu Al-Hummos, Deputy Head of the Intelligence Service and Director of Foreign and International Relations Major General Nasser Adawi, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr. Wael Al-Sheikh, met several days ago with the Higher Committee for Deported Released Prisoners, headed by Committee Chairman Ahmed Salim.
The meeting began with the official institutional delegation affirming the sanctity of the rights of deported prisoners, foremost among them their right to health and medical services. The delegation stressed that this issue is receiving the attention of the Palestinian leadership, represented by His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh, and Head of the Intelligence Service Major General Majed Faraj. The leadership has made a clear decision that our prisoners will not be left alone to face the hardships of deportation and separation from their homeland and families, and that diseases and pain will not be allowed to take a toll on their bodies after these long years of struggle and sacrifice.
The delegation stressed that medical treatment would immediately begin for all deported prisoners, through full coordination with the Committee and on the basis of clear and up-to-date medical reports detailing their health conditions and diagnoses. Treatment will be prioritized according to the severity of each case and provided gradually, noting that this comes as a continuation of the health and medical services provided by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The delegation explained to the Committee that, despite the difficult and complex circumstances facing Palestine and its people, and while fully understanding the living conditions imposed on all deported released prisoners, we remain determined to work jointly and cooperate fully until they attain the dignified life they deserve in its entirety.
The delegation and the Committee discussed all details related to their situation and the broader efforts to address their needs. Work is underway with all relevant parties to achieve this, based on the firm belief that they deserve to live in peace and stability and to free themselves from pain and suffering of prisons and detention centers and their impact on their lives and future.
The delegation conveyed the greetings of the Palestinian leadership to the deported prisoners and their families, stressing that unwavering faith in relief and freedom gives us the strength and determination to continue working toward the ultimate goal: achieving complete liberation from the occupation.

The Commission of Detainees Affairs and Ex-Detainees Affairs revealed, in a report issued today, Wednesday, the deteriorating health and living conditions of a number of prisoners in Gilboa Prison, amid reports by prisoners of medical neglect, shortages of food, and a lack of personal hygiene supplies.
The Commission reported that prisoner Munir Ahmad Youssef Salameh, from Jenin Camp, who has been detained since November 9, 2023, is suffering from several health problems, including pain in his feet, teeth, and eyes, as well as symptoms associated with scabies, amid deliberate medical neglect, according to information conveyed by the Commission’s lawyer during his most recent visit.
According to the prisoner’s testimony, the occupation forces assaulted him and beat him at the moment of his arrest, causing one of his teeth to break. However, he did not receive the necessary medical treatment for his injury, according to his account to the Commission.
In another case, 25-year-old prisoner Abdullah Suhrab Saif, from Tulkarm, is suffering from inflammations and boils in various parts of his body, particularly on his foot. He said that he received treatment without any significant improvement. He also suffers from stomach problems and has lost approximately 40 kilograms during his detention.
Saif was arrested on May 28, 2024. According to his testimony, he spent approximately 18 months in solitary confinement at Megiddo Prison before being transferred to Gilboa Prison in February of this year.
According to prisoners’ testimonies, their suffering in Gilboa is not limited to health conditions. They also described difficult living conditions inside the prison, including shortages of food in terms of both quantity and quality. Prisoners are taken to the prison yard twice a day, for half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening.
The prisoners also reported shortages of personal hygiene supplies, including nail clippers, while they are only permitted to shave after submitting a request. They further reported insufficient quantities of cleaning and personal hygiene products.
The testimonies added that prisoners have only one set of clothing, further exacerbating their difficult living conditions inside the prison, amid limited access to the basic necessities they require on a daily basis.
The difficult health and living conditions endured by prisoners in Gilboa Prison are becoming increasingly severe due to the deliberate and systematic medical neglect inflicted upon our prisoners.

The Commission of Detainees Affairs revealed today, Monday, based on information provided by the Commission’s lawyer, the human rights violations suffered by female detainee Nahla Mona (21) from the city of Nablus, who remains in detention.

According to the Commission, Israeli occupation forces subjected Mona to a series of human rights violations during her arrest. On April 24, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Israeli forces raided her family home, searched and destroyed its contents, and then arrested Mona and her brother. They blindfolded her, handcuffed her, and transferred her in a military vehicle to Huwara Detention Center, before subsequently taking her to Al-Jalameh Interrogation Center.

Mona said: “I remained at Al-Jalameh for three days, after which I was transferred to Petah Tikva Interrogation Center, where I stayed for approximately one month. During that period, I was subjected to verbal abuse and obscene insults. I was also subjected to a polygraph test and threatened more than once with military interrogation. The interrogation sessions varied, taking place sometimes at night and at other times during the day.”

She continued: “The conditions in the cells are extremely difficult. The space is very cramped, and the walls of the cell are dark gray. There is also a significant presence of insects and rodents, as well as a severe lack of cleanliness. The food is insufficient both in quantity and quality.”

Mona described the psychological pressure she has been subjected to as her interrogation continued and as she was repeatedly transferred from one cell to another. She was subsequently returned to Al-Jalameh Interrogation Center, and eventually transferred to Damon Prison, where, she said, detainees suffer from various forms of abuse, including sudden raids and repression, punishments imposed for the slightest reasons, shortages of clothing, poor and insufficient food, and a lack of basic hygiene supplies.

The detainee further confirmed that approximately 11 female detainees have been isolated from the rooms due to scabies infections. She added that a number of female detainees scratch their skin until it bleeds, while there are also several severe and persistent cases in the section.

Detainee Raghad Al-Fanni, 28, from Tulkarm, has been held in Damon Prison since her arrest on 1 January 2026. Prior to her arrest, Al-Fanni was a student at Al-Quds Open University. This is her second arrest; she was previously detained on October 28, 2022 and sentenced to 13 months in prison. She is currently being held under administrative detention in Damon Prison.

The Commission of Detainees Affairs and Ex-Detainees said in a report issued today, Monday, following a visit by one of its lawyers to a number of female detainees in Damon Prison, that Al-Fanni was arrested after Israeli occupation forces raided her home while she was asleep in the early hours of the morning. The soldiers bound her hands and blindfolded her before taking her to a military camp in Tulkarm, where she remained until noon. She was then transferred to Sharon Prison, where she stayed for several days before being transferred to Damon Prison.

She needs prescription eyeglasses to carry on with her daily life inside the prison. She said that the Damon Prison administration confiscated her eyeglasses on July 13, 2026, claiming that glasses with metal frames are not permitted inside the prison and that only glasses with plastic frames are allowed.

According to the Commission’s lawyer, a request was submitted to the prison administration to allow the eyeglasses to be brought in through one of the lawyers affiliated with the Commission of Detainees Affairs and Ex-Detainees.

Regarding the conditions of the female detainees in Damon Prison, the health conditions inside the prison are extremely difficult due to the widespread outbreak of scabies among the majority of detainees, with some cases being very severe.She reported that Room No. 4 had been designated to isolate detainees suffering from the disease.

Detainees complain of a shortage of cleaning supplies, high humidity inside the rooms, and inadequate ventilation, all of which have contributed to the worsening of the scabies outbreak.

Al-Fanni added that the Damon Prison administration has reduced the duration of the outdoor recreation period, known as “fawra,” allocated to the female detainees.
In her statement to the Commission’s lawyer, Al-Fanni said that she was placed in isolation for three days without being informed of the reason, which remains unknown to her to this day. She also reported that, after being released from isolation, the detainees were subjected to repression while attempting to clean their rooms after requesting cleaning supplies. They were further punished by having their belongings thrown onto the water-covered floor.

Detainee Hanaa Mohammad Muhyeealdeen Tahayna (48), from the city of Jenin, is currently held at Damon Prison. She was arrested on June 8, 2026, and placed under administrative detention. She is the mother of six children.

In a report issued on Wednesday, the Commission of Detainees' Affairs stated that Tahaynah is experiencing imprisonment for the first time. However, she had long been familiar with its hardship as the wife of former prisoner Sharif Tahaynah, who previously spent ten years in Israeli prisons.

According to her testimony to the Commission's lawyer, Israeli occupation forces raided her home at approximately 3:00 a.m., searched the house, and arrested her without allowing her to bid farewell to her children. Soldiers handcuffed her with plastic restraints, blindfolded her, and forced her to walk a long distance despite the fact that military vehicles could have reached the vicinity of her home.
Tahayneh further stated that she was kept for hours in a small room resembling a storage closet while handcuffed and blindfolded, and was denied access to the bathroom. During her transfer to Sharon Prison, she felt that one of the soldiers was filming her. When she attempted to slightly lift her blindfold, she was subjected to shouting and verbal abuse. Upon arrival at the prison, she was strip-searched, beaten, humiliated, dragged, and her head was violently forced to the ground. After this painful ordeal, she was transferred to Damon Prison, where she remains detained.

The detainee also suffers from several chronic medical conditions, including migraines, rheumatism, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and varicose veins accompanied by persistent pain. Despite her condition, the Israeli Prison Service refused to provide her with even a single painkiller.

The conditions endured by female prisoners in Damon Prison remain extremely harsh. The prison lacks the most basic necessities of humane living, including adequate food, clothing, and essential feminine hygiene supplies. In addition, the women are subjected to repeated punitive raids and searches of their cells without justification, forced into the prison yard during the peak of the scorching summer heat, and insulted with degrading and offensive language.

He further noted that Ben-Gvir's extremism, hatred, and racism led him on Wednesday to visit Negev Prison to inspect the area where he reportedly intends to place crocodiles in order to prevent Palestinian prisoners from escaping. He was accompanied by the far-right Israeli politician Idit Silman.

Abu Al-Hummos called on the silent international community, along with its institutions and organizations, to take a stand, if only for once, and to free itself from what he described as blind subservience to capitalism and the influence of the Zionist lobby. He urged the international community to demonstrate courage and act immediately to hold the occupying power and those responsible for alleged crimes accountable.

It is worth noting that the Israeli authorities have been promoting the idea of surrounding Negev Prison with crocodiles. According to Abu Al-Hummos, an Israeli animal rights organization objected to the proposal, claiming concern for the crocodiles' welfare. He argued that this entire episode has failed to prompt international institutions, organizations, and human rights bodies to condemn Israel or take action against its policies.

Abu Al-Hummos stated: "Ben-Gvir has once again appeared with his childish recklessness in a new episode of moral degradation and disgrace, issuing renewed orders to further isolate male and female prisoners from the outside world, prevent family visits, and continue denying human rights and humanitarian organizations access to them. This is an open act of defiance that disregards the international community and its institutions, including the United Nations."

He added: "Given Ben-Gvir’s blatant audacity, I believe the International Committee of the Red Cross, along with all human rights and humanitarian organizations, is now obliged to speak out loudly, condemn these practices, expose the occupation authorities for refusing to cooperate with international organizations, obstructing their work, and denying their role. It is worth noting that since October 7, 2023, the lives of Palestinian prisoners have turned into a living hell. They have been stripped of all their rights and personal belongings and are now confined to bare prison cells while being subjected to systematic torture and abuse. These politically motivated practices have turned them into genuine victims of organized state terrorism.

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported on Sunday afternoon that the Israeli occupation authorities had acknowledged the death of detainee Ehab Mohammad Abdul Qader Diab, 36, from the Gaza Strip, who had been detained since 12 December 2023.
The Commission explained that it had received a response from the Israeli Prison Service confirming the death of detainee Diab. The response stated that he had been suffering from a health condition, a claim denied by his family, who confirmed that he was in good health and did not suffer from any illnesses when he was detained. It is believed that his death occurred on September 18, 2024.
The Commission noted that with the death of detainee Diab, the number of martyrs of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement since 1967 has risen to 328, including 91 martyrs since 7 October, among them 53 from the Gaza Strip.
The Commission stressed the urgent need for immediate intervention by the international community to put an end to the policy of torture and ill-treatment inside Israeli prisons and detention centers. These practices have resulted in dozens of executions among Palestinian detainees held in Israeli prisons and detention centers, particularly those detained from the Gaza Strip. The Commission has received numerous testimonies confirming that detainees have died as a result of torture, yet the Israeli occupation authorities have not acknowledged these deaths to date and continue their policy of enforced disappearance and unethical and inhumane concealment.
The Commission extended its condolences to the family of martyr detainee Diab, stressing that his killing is another continuation of the deliberate killing of Palestinian citizens and fighters of the Palestinian people. It emphasized that the time has come to put an end to this ongoing cycle of death that continues to claim the lives of Palestinian detainees.

Marking the National and International Day in Solidarity with Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli prisons, Abu Al-Hummos stressed the urgent need to break what he described as the "shameful silence" that has effectively given Israeli authorities a green light to intensify abuses against Palestinian prisoners, inflicting every form of harm upon them. He stated that these violations have evolved into systematic policies and legal measures that institutionalize what he described as an ongoing and escalating crime.
He expressed deep disappointment over what he viewed as the failure of international human rights and humanitarian organizations to respond adequately to the scale of violations being documented daily. He referred to allegations of killings, sexual abuse, beatings, starvation, mistreatment, humiliation, and the deprivation of basic human and humanitarian rights, stressing that such circumstances should have prompted a far stronger international human rights response.
Moreover, he urged the international community to act with courage and uphold its humanitarian, moral, and legal obligations by gaining access to Israeli prisons and detention facilities to assess conditions firsthand, hear prisoners' testimonies, document violations at their source, and publicly acknowledge what he described as unprecedented crimes committed inside Israeli detention facilities.
It is worth noting that the National and International Day in Solidarity with Palestinian Prisoners, observed annually on 3 August, was established in 2024 following dialogue and coordination among Palestinian prisoner advocacy organizations and national factions, which agreed to designate the date as a national and international day to support Palestinian prisoners and advocate for their rights.
This year's commemoration was organized in partnership with the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah Movement and was attended by national and political figures, prisoner advocacy organizations, families of prisoners, and large numbers of Palestinians.

Abu Al-Hummos stated: "The testimonies conveyed by the lawyer who recently visited Dr. Al-Rantisi expose a reality that strips the world of its moral and humanitarian values. It is inconceivable that such silence persists in the face of this suffering. A man is being punished simply for his ethical and humanitarian principles, and for his deep commitment to supporting his people by providing medical care and treatment at symbolic consultation fees. For this, he has been imprisoned in Israeli occupation prisons."
He added: "I call upon doctors around the world, the global health sector, all relevant professional unions and associations, and the World Health Organization to organize a global solidarity stand in support of Dr. Al-Rantisi, his fellow physicians, and all imprisoned activists of our people held in Israeli prisons. Let them raise their voices and deliver a humanitarian message declaring that enough is enough, enough of injustice and enough of this systematic terror."
The recent visit to Dr. Al-Rantisi exposed the violations committed against him and other detainees in Ofer Prison. He has been deprived of his prescribed medication, and all his requests to see a physician have been denied, with the only medical examination consisting of having his pulse checked. He has lost a significant amount of weight due to the poor-quality food provided in insufficient quantities, which he described as unfit for human consumption. He has also been forced to walk while bent over with his hands shackled, subjected to humiliation and verbal abuse, while detainees are compelled to kneel four times a day during headcounts.
The prison cells are severely overcrowded, housing at least ten detainees despite containing only six beds. Cell raids are frequent and involve physical assaults and the use of tear gas. Dr. Al-Rantisi has been wearing the same clothes since his arrest, with no access to cleaning supplies, while insects and mold are widespread throughout the prison.
It is worth noting that Palestinian physician Dr. Mazen Al-Rantisi, widely known as the "Doctor of the Poor," was arrested after Israeli forces raided his home in Al-Tireh neighborhood of Ramallah at dawn on June 22, 2026.

According to the Commission’s lawyer, detainee Amna Suweilem (55), from the city of Nablus, who has been detained since 3 November 2025, reported that the detention conditions in Damon Prison are extremely harsh and difficult.
Suweilem suffers from shoulder pain caused by a torn tendon. She also suffers from thyroid disorders and a hernia in the abdominal muscles.
Meanwhile, detainee Layla Khalil (22), from the town of Beitunia, Ramallah, who was arrested on June 2, 2026, is being held in the isolation section known as “fattening section." She stated that prison conditions are extremely poor, saying:
"The prison conditions are extremely bad. The food is poor both in quality and quantity. We are allowed only one recreation period per day, lasting one hour, and many of the female detainees are unable to shower because the time is too limited."

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs and Ex-Detainees Affairs stated in a report issued today, Sunday, that juvenile Palestinian detainees held in Megiddo Prison are enduring extremely harsh detention conditions that have robbed them their childhood.
The Commission's advocate reported that detainee Mohammad Arafat Sidqi Sawafta, a 20-year-old from Tubas Governorate who has been detained since 17 June 2025, is battling serious health conditions. He suffers from arthritis, in addition to a stomach virus and another viral infection affecting his eyes. Although he received treatment for the eye infection, his health remains so poor that he is forced to walk with the aid of a walker, reflecting the severity of the medical suffering he continues to endure in detention.
The report further noted that all detainees have experienced significant weight loss as a result of severe malnutrition. The food portions provided are extremely inadequate and fail to meet even their most basic nutritional needs for survival.
Describing the detention conditions, the Commission's advocate stated: "detainees are transferred while handcuffed despite repeated objections to this practice. As a result, signing documents becomes extremely difficult, and they are often unable even to hold the telephone used to communicate during legal visits, turning these meetings into exhausting experiences that fall far short of the minimum standards required for confidential and effective legal consultations."

Detainees in Megiddo also suffer from a severe shortage of cleaning supplies. Shower water is available for only one hour per day, and even then, not on a regular basis. The same applies to the daily outdoor exercise period ("yard time"), which is limited to no more than one hour and is not consistently granted. Drinking water is obtained directly from the taps, while each detainee possesses only a single set of clothing.
The days pass painfully slowly for the detainees, made even harsher not only by the deprivation of their liberty but also by the physical, humanitarian, and psychological suffering they endure. They continue to face hunger, humiliation, and deprivation of the most basic necessities required for a dignified human life.

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs stated in its report issued today, Sunday, that its advocate visited a number of detainees held in the Negev Prison, documenting the continued deterioration of living and health conditions inside the prison. Detainees reported persistent medical neglect, poor-quality and insufficient food, a shortage of summer clothing, as well as ongoing physical and verbal abuse.
Detainee Hashem Mamoun Mahasneh (19), from Jenin Refugee Camp, who has been held under administrative detention since 28/04/2025, is suffering from severe dental pain requiring urgent treatment. He is also suffering from a fungal skin infection that remains widespread across his body despite receiving topical medication, making further treatment necessary. Mahasneh also described the harsh detention conditions, including inadequate and poor-quality food, repeated beatings and verbal abuse without justification, and a severe shortage of summer clothing.
The Commission also reported that detainee Imad Moayyad Fawzi Habash (37), from Nablus, who has been held under administrative detention since 28/07/2025, suffers from high blood pressure and is receiving the necessary medication from the prison clinic. He also experiences hearing loss and persistent tinnitus in his left ear as a result of injuries sustained during a prison raid in Megiddo Prison in late 2025, when sound grenades were used against detainees.
Detainee Mu'taz Hisham Mohammad Yaqub (28), from the city of Tulkarm, who has been held under administrative detention since 17/07/2025, stated that he requires antibiotics and painkillers due to recurring infections resulting from three fistula surgeries he underwent prior to his arrest. However, the prison administration has failed to provide him with the necessary treatment. He also stressed his urgent need for his prescription glasses, which he did not have with him at the time of his arrest. Yaqub further confirmed the continued medical neglect, poor-quality food, assaults against detainees, and the shortage of summer clothing. He added that he has lost approximately 40 kilograms since his detention.
Meanwhile, detainee Mohammad Raja Ahmad Al-Khatib (28), from the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah, who has been held under administrative detention since 05/08/2024, stated that he contracted scabies at the beginning of the year. Although he received treatment twice, the disease recurred after the treatment ended. He also suffers from hearing loss in his right ear as a result of being beaten while detained in Ofer Prison.
The Commission's advocate also visited a number of other detainees:
. Rami Rashid Hilal (28), from Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, has been held under administrative detention for 16 months and is scheduled to complete his detention on 05/11/2026.
. Adam Mohammad Jamal Abu Baker (20), from the city of Jenin, has been detained since 22/12/2024 and is currently serving his fourth six-month administrative detention renewal, due to end on 27/08/2026.
. Mustafa Mahmoud Al-Saadi (22), from Jenin, has been detained since 11/02/2025 and is serving his third administrative detention renewal, due to end on 08/08/2026.
. Ahmad Mohammad Sarari (23), from the city of Ramallah, has been detained since 08/07/2025 and is scheduled to be released on 05/01/2027.
. Abdul Rahman Basisi (23), from the city of Tulkarm, has been detained since 22/09/2024 and is serving his fourth six-month administrative detention renewal, due to end on 02/09/2026.

The latest attack involved prison forces storming his cell, assaulting him, and firing rubber bullets at his body.
Abu Al-Hommus stated: "Brother and leader Abu Al-Qassam is a national and international symbol. Targeting him in this systematic manner by the Israeli occupation government and its ministers, carried out by the Israel Prison Service, reveals a clear plan to eliminate him. This sends an unmistakable message from the occupation and its instruments that such deliberate targeting constitutes a denial of the status and humanity of Palestinian detainees. It poses a real threat to the lives of all male and female detainees."
He added: "The criminal and retaliatory policies being carried out inside Israeli prisons and detention centers have exceeded all international laws and norms.
They place the leaders of the occupation at the top of the list of war criminals and perpetrators of crimes against humanity. Abu Al-Hommus called on all free people around the world to take immediate action to save leader Abu Al-Qassam and all Palestinian prisoners, both men and women. He stressed that continued international silence grants the occupation authorities and their repressive apparatus broad latitude to continue inflicting suffering and pain on Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons and detention centers. He concluded that the time has come for the international community and all international organizations and institutions to assume moral and humanitarian responsibility for their cause.

Ramallah, occupied Palestine - Israeli occupation authorities disclosed on Sunday, June 28, the martyrdom of the Palestinian political prisoner Majdi Noor Abu Arra from the Tubas area of the northern West Bank. This comes after occupation authorities forcibly concealed his fate for a year and a half, without disclosing the date or circumstances of his martyrdom, while continuing to detain his body.
In a joint statement, the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner's Society held occupation authorities completely responsible for his martyrdom, and emphasized that he was subjected to constitutes a full-fledged crime of enforced disappearance. This is the same crime that has been imposed on dozens of martyrs from the Gaza Strip whom the occupation arrested and refuses to disclose their fates.
The crime of enforced disappearance has emerged as one of the most serious issues that escalated following the war on the Gaza Strip.
Conversely, thousands of Palestinians remain missing, while the bodies of an unknown number of detained martyrs remain subject to enforced disappearance, given the occupation's continued blackout on their fate and its refusal to provide any information regarding them.
The two organizations pointed out that regarding martyrs from the West Bank, specialized institutions used to receive notifications related to the martyrdom of prisoners through the Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs within hours of their passing, with the exception of only two cases in which institutions were notified days after their martyrdom inside the occupation prisons.
This is in addition to the receipt of inaccurate information regarding the martyrdom and arrest of others. In a number of cases where Palestinian authorities were notified of the martyrdom of citizens, it later turned out that they were detained by the occupation, and that some had passed away while in captivity. This left their families in a state of shock, anxiety, and doubt regarding the fate of their children.
The two institutions reaffirmed that what the young man Majdi Abu Arra was subjected to is a full-fledged crime of enforced disappearance, especially since his family resorted throughout that entire period to various competent authorities to inquire about his fate with the occupation authorities, without receiving any response or information regarding his whereabouts or his legal and humanitarian status, until they were informed of his martyrdom today.
The two institutions stressed that the crime of enforced disappearance is one of the most serious crimes that Israel has escalated following the war. However, this does not mean it is a novel crime; historically, occupation authorities have consistently utilized this policy as a tool of repression and control, similar to all other crimes and violations committed against the Palestinian people, as part of an extended and deeply rooted colonial system in the context of the occupation of Palestine.

“Knesset’s” Approval of Law to Create Special Court for Gaza Detainees, Including Imposition of Death Penalty - Statement by Palestinian Prisoner Institutions

The Israeli “Knesset’s” approval of a special law establishing an exceptional court for Gaza detainees whom the occupation authorities claim participated in the events of October 7, 2023 — including the imposition of the death penalty against them — constitutes a new and dangerous link in the chain of colonial legislation that entrenches the ongoing crime of genocide against the Palestinian people, including political prisoners, Palestinian prisoner institutions stated on Tuesday.
This law represents a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and a range of fundamental inalienable rights, foremost among them the right to life, the right to a fair trial, and due process guarantees, in addition to the absolute prohibition of torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.
The institutions added that the provisions contained in this law cannot be separated from the racist legislative path through which the “Knesset” had previously approved in what is known as the law permitting the execution of Palestinian prisoners. Rather, it constitutes a continuation of a systematic legislative approach aimed at providing internal legal cover for the international crimes committed against the Palestinian people. This trend further entrenches the role of the “Knesset” as one of the central instruments within the Israeli colonial-terror system, which has directly contributed to the perpetuation of genocide, the continuation of comprehensive aggression, and the targeting of Palestinian existence and national and human rights.
The institutions stressed that this law comes at a time when horrific testimonies and accounts from Palestinian political prisoners and detainees continue to emerge, documenting systematic torture, starvation crimes, medical crimes, harsh isolation, sexual assaults, and policies of slow killing carried out in an organized manner inside Israeli occupation prisons and camps. The testimonies of Gaza detainees in particular constitute direct and living evidence of the ongoing crimes committed against Palestinian prisoners and detainees over more than two and a half years, within the framework of a systematic policy amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity, and representing another face of the genocide taking place inside prisons. In this regard, it should be noted that many detainees from Gaza confirmed that they “confessed” to acts they did not commit under torture.
The institutions further affirmed that the Israeli occupation system’s insistence on inventing legislative tools that legitimize the death penalty within exceptional procedures lacking even the minimum standards of justice could not have continued without the state of international paralysis and the existing political and legal complicity regarding ongoing Israeli crimes, including the crime of genocide.
In light of this dangerous development, Palestinian human rights organizations emphasize that they had previously addressed dozens of appeals and communications to the relevant international bodies, warning of the danger of these laws and their legal and humanitarian consequences. Nevertheless, the occupation authorities continue to enact and approve more racist laws that undermine the international justice system and blatantly disregard all obligations imposed on the occupying power under international law.
Despite this, we reaffirm our continued calls upon free nations and international parliamentary and human rights bodies to adopt a clear and firm position toward the so-called Israeli “Knesset,” and to work immediately toward suspending or terminating its membership in international parliaments and unions, and boycotting it as a legislative institution that legitimizes genocide, incitement to violence, and systematic racial discrimination against the Palestinian people.
We also reaffirm our continued appeals to the free people of the world, based on the Palestinian people’s established and inalienable right to self-determination, national liberation, and the freedom of prisoners and detainees. We warn that the continued impunity and treatment of “Israel” as an entity above the law and accountability will not affect the Palestinian people alone, but will undermine the entire international justice system and threaten the human values for which peoples around the world have long struggled to establish and protect.
In this context, Palestinian prisoner institutions renew their demands for the following:
• Activating the principle of universal jurisdiction to prosecute Israeli officials involved in torture, war crimes, and crimes against humanity committed against Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
• Treating the “Knesset” and Israeli occupation courts as institutions that legitimize apartheid and persecution policies, and working to isolate them internationally, including by ending their membership in international parliamentary bodies and unions.
• Ensuring the immediate and unconditional release of all Palestinian political prisoners.
• Ending the policy of arbitrary administrative detention as a grave violation of fair trial principles and personal liberty.
• Dismantling the Israeli occupation’s military court system, which is used as a tool of oppression and colonial control.
• Opening independent and transparent international investigations into all acts of torture and killings inside Israeli occupation prisons and detention centers.
• Ensuring full cooperation with the International Criminal Court, supporting its investigations, and implementing arrest warrants issued against those responsible for international crimes.
• Enabling the International Committee of the Red Cross to visit Palestinian prisoners and detainees and review their detention conditions without any restrictions or obstacles.
