M.G Qadri Abu Baker: We call on the Red Cross to intervene and save the life of detainee Walid Daqqa 26/3/2023

The head of the Commission of Detainees' Affairs, Qadri Abu Baker, called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene immediately to save the life of the detainee Walid Daqqa, who is suffering from an intensive health condition. He has been transferred to Barzulai hospital few days ago. Abu Baker called on the International Committee of Red Cross to form of specialized medical staff to visit him in the hospital and treat him. Moreover, Abu Baker stated that Daqqa has spinal cord cancer, and recently he had severe pneumonia and acute kidney failure, and he is currently held in a private room due to his difficult health situation. The head of the Commission said that the Israeli authorities must hold full responsibility toward the life of the detainee Walid Daqqa, and called on legal organisations and international human rights organisations to save his life and release him, so he can has the appropriate medical care. It is worthy to mention that the detainee Walid Daqqa is from the lands occupied in 1948, and he enters today his 39th year in prison.

The Commission and the Prisoner's Club emphasized in a joint statement that detainees had returned their meals and they agreed on steps to be implemented in some prisons, in response for the policy of classifying, which the administration of prisons is trying to use. These steps will be opened until announcing the start of the hunger strike which will be conducted on the first day of Ramadan. It is worthy to mention that the administration of prisons had announced the commencement of implementing the procedures of the extremist Ben Gvir in the new sections of Nafaha prison, where they reduced the quantity of water used by detainees and reduced the time of using bathrooms.

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs and the Palestinian Society Prisoner's Club confirmed in a brief statement today, that the secretary general of the Popular Front for the liberation of Palestine, Ahmad Saadat, will be at the forefront of detainees who are starting the hunger strike by the first day of Ramadan. The Commission of Detainees and the Prisoner's Club stated that the leader Ahmad Saadat is representing an ideal to all who struggle for freedom and independence. The Commission and the Prisoner's Club confirmed that the hunger strike represents a turning point in the history of Captive Movement, where detainees call on their people to support them on their just battle. Moreover, many leaders from different factions announced their will to enter the hunger strike, such as Marwan Barghouthi, Naser Abu Srour, Mahmood Abu Srour, Jum'a Abu Adam, Mahmood Abu Kharbeesh, Zakaria Zubaidi and Nael Abu Alasal from Fatah Movement, in addition to Jamal Abu Alheja, Mahmood Issa, Abbas Sayyed, Ibrahim Hamed, Hasan Salameh and Mohammed Arman from Hamas Movement. Moreover, leaders from the Popular Front announced their will to join the hunger strike, such as Kameel Abu Hnaish, Ahed Abu Ghulmi and Munther Mefleh, in addition to leaders from the Islamic Jihad such as Sameh Shobaki and Tamim Salem.

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs reveals acts of violence and beating during the arrest of Palestinians 6/3/2023

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs revealed the details of violence and torture against Palestinians during raid campaigns to their houses, arresting them and taking them to interrogation centers. A case in point is the detainee Yousef Hamid, 19, from Silwad/ Ramallah, where the the Israeli army stormed his house at 1:30 am and escorted him on foot for 8 km. He was subjected to harsh beat with rifles all over his body. He is currently held at Itzion interrogation center. Moreover, the Israeli army attacked the detainee Mohammed Hajajreh, 18, from Arroub camp, and abused him during his arrest, where they beat him on the face, causing many bruises. It is worthy to mention that there is a real disaster regarding the health and life conditions lived by detainees in Itzion interrogation center, where 29 detainees are currently held there. They are deprived of their basic rights, which are stipulated in all international agreements and norms.

* The Israeli authorities issued an order of administrative detention for 3 months against the detainee Deyaa Nababteh from Jerusalem * The administration of prisons transferred 4 detainees from Ramon prison to Nafaha prison * Extending the custody of the detainee Rajaa Karsou' until 28/2/2023, knowing that she's prevented from meeting her lawyer and she has fractures in the back and hand * Abu Baker stated that the detainees' confrontation and international pressures may end the escalation in prisons, where debates took place between the detainees' representatives and the prisons administration, in which the administration and the intelligence device confirmed that they are not interested in the escalation and they just implement the policy of the new government

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs appropriated the great efforts of the official media, which fights in the battle of challenge and steadfastness alongside our detainees in Israeli prisons, who are getting ready to enter the fiercest battle in the next few hours against the administration of prisons and its policies. The Commission stated that the occupation's procedures in chasing people working in official media and closing the office of Palestine TV and Vioce of Palestine Radio in Jerusalem is an obvious evidence on the truthfulness of the official media. The Commission paid tribute to all official media crews and their social and national programs, confirming that we will be real troops besides our official media in confronting these challenges.

* Special Forces subordinate to prisons' service, stormed Jelboa, Megiddo and Naqab prisons, attacked many detainees, confiscated their belongings and imposed sanctions against them * The administration of Naqab prison stormed section 5 and transferred detainees to other sections * A state of tension prevailed in all prisons and the escalation is over the horizon
