On his speech in the opening session of the 8th European Coalition Conference

Fares: Palestinians love the life, and we pay the price of our freedom from the sacrifices of our detainees in Israeli prisons

The head of the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs, Qaddura Fares, initiated his speech today in the opening session of the 8th European Coalition Conference to support the Palestinian detainees, held in Madrid, confirming that Palestinians love normal life, where they pay a high price of their struggle inside the Israeli prisons, in which Israel is practicing organized terrorism against them. Fares said: “ I came from Palestine, conveying to you the greetings of the Palestinian resistance fighters and the detainees, who are armed with their patience, steadfastness and determination. They appreciate your efforts in this conference, especially the friends who are in solidarity from Spain and the whole world, who spent their time to know more about the suffering and violations committed against them by Israel, which contradict all international laws and agreements and deny the humanity of the Palestinian detainees”. Fares stated “ talking about the cause of Palestinian detainees takes a long time, but i will summarize the details that reveal the actual crime of Israel, where more that a million persons have been detained since 1967. Currently, more than (5000) detainees are held in Israeli prisons, distributed to 24 prisons, including (38) women, (170) children , (700) sick detainees, (559) life sentences, (450) spent more than 20 years in prison, including (22) who are detained before signing the Oslo Accord. Moreover, there are (237) martyrs from the Captive Movement, the last of whom was the detainee Khader Adnan, where the Israeli authorities keep withholding the remains of (11) martyrs. In addition, there are (1200) administrative detainees, who are imprisoned without charges or trials. Fares pointed out that the previous figures are just a glance of the Israeli fascism against Palestinians, and that each figure has painful details behind, which does not exist elsewhere. We will be always ready to respond to your questions about everything related to detainees. Fares confirmed that the situation inside prisons is miserable and complicated in the light of the fascism extremist system represented in the racist Itamar Ben Gvir, who is making efforts to take revenge from detainees and turning their lives into hell. However, Fares stressed that all detainees’ rights have been snatched with long years of struggle and hunger strikes, and that those heroes have turned prisons into real universities and were able to obtain bachelor and master’s degrees from inside the prisons, which enabled them to turn their cells into arena of clashes with the occupation, that cannot defeat this challenge. Fares concluded his speech by two letters; the first is from the children who was born by smuggling sperms from inside the prisons, represented by the daughter of the detainee Walid Daqqa, the youngest participant in this conference, who wants her father to be free, besides to other 130 children who were born the same way. The second letter is for the whole world to intervene and and save the life of detainee Kayed Fasfous, who is on hunger strike since 59 days, protesting against his administrative detention. Try to end the crime of administrative detention and what accompanies it of torture and punishment against detainees and their families.
