Qaraqe': the Freedom Flame will be lit this year in solidarity with administrative detainees, sick detainees and retained martyrs


The head of the Commission of Detainees Affairs, Issa Qaraqe', announced that the Freedom Flame of this year will be lit in the occasion of the Palestinian Detainee's  Day next month on 17 April, in a public celebration in Tulkarem city. It will be in solidarity with the administrative detainees who still boycotting the occupation courts, sick detainees who are exposed to medical negligence and the retained martyrs by the Israeli occupation.
Qaraqe' stated that the events of the Palestinian Detainee's Day of 2018 will be wide in light of the aggressive attack on detainees by the Israeli occupation government, and the continuous systematic crimes against them, especially under the racist legislations and arbitrary laws initiated by the Israeli government which contradict the international and humanitarian laws.
He also added that 95% of the administrative detainees who resorted to the Israeli Supreme Court, their petitions were dismissed and their detention was confirmed. He affirmed that the administrative detention became part of arbitrary system of psychological torture practiced against detainees by the occupation authorities.
Qaraqe's statements came during visits to released detainees at Balata camp in Nablus city. They were Sami Abu Hamada, Khalil Abu Hashyeh, and Muhammad Younis who served 15 years in prison.
