Fares: “The occupation’s organizations operate within integrated group of gangs”

 February 29, 2024

The head of the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs, Qaddura Fares, condemned the autopsy on the corpse of detainee Khalid Shaweesh by the Israeli authorities secretly. He added: “transferring the corpse of the martyr to the Institute of Forensic Medicine and conducting autopsy on his corpse, without abiding by the decision of the court on the existence of a doctor from the side of the martyr’s family, reinforces our narrative that he was exposed to severe beat, torture and dragged to the ground without taking into consideration his critical health condition”.

Fares stated: “ The unethical behavior of the occupation and its system, represented in manipulating the lives of detainees and committing field executions by torture and medical crimes provoke our discontent and dissatisfaction over the international community, as all of you are contributing to what happens to our detainees in Israeli prisons”.

Fares emphasized that the autopsy was conducted under integrated crime started and implemented by the Israeli army, and the judiciary system that did not adhere to the court’s decision, the Minister of Health that conducted the autopsy and the Ministry of Information which was secretive and did not publish any information.

Fares pointed out that what the martyr detainee al-Shaweesh experienced is identical to what the martyr detainee Thaer Abu Asab has gone through, as both were beaten, tortured, martyred, and underwent autopsy without the family doctor's presence.

Fares asked a series of questions to the international community: Do you now know how our detainees are killed? Do you know what we mean by the occupation system and its gangs? Do you know how civil institutions and Israeli ministries serve the occupation's fascist demands and plans? Do you know how they steal the skins of martyrs and detainees and their body organs? Isn't it time to break this disgraceful silence and deter the occupation?? It is worth mentioning that Shaweesh was arrested in 28/5/2007, and sentenced to life imprisonment and was exposed to medical ignorance over the years of his detention.
