The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs reveals the difficult and harsh conditions in which the isolated detainee Marah Bakeer lives

The commission of Detainees’ Affairs reported today’s evening that the Israeli Prison Service continued to isolate the women detainees representative Marah Bakeer, 23, from Jerusalem, where she was moved recently to the isolation of Al-jalamah prison after storming the section of women detainees at Damoun prison, using tear gas and brutal assault against them, within the frame of retaliatory attack against detainees in all Israeli prisons.

The Commission pointed out the Marah Bakeer informed her lawyer, Hanan Khatib , that she is held in a small and rotten cell, with no place to take shower. She is prevented from going to the prison’s yard and she is still in the same clothes since isolating her.

Marah stated that the cell have surveillance cameras, which violates her privacy. In addition, the bed cover is dirty and stinky, that does not protect her from the cold weather. She is also deprived of having medical checkups since her isolation.

The Commission indicated that Bakeer was arrested on October 12, 2015 , when she was only 16 years old, after shooting her by the Israeli soldiers in her way back from school. She is sentenced to 8 years and a fine of 10000 ILS.
