The Commission of Detainees' Affairs confirmed that the Israeli authorities are holding (170) minors in Ofer, Megiddo and Damoun prisons.

The Commission stated in a report issued today that these prisons lacks the minimum standards of human life, where minors are subjected to torture and degrading treatment, which contradicts international principles of human rights.

The Commission indicated that the Israeli authorities arrested (17000) Palestinian minors at least since 2000, in addition to many cases of detention against children under the age of 10.

Moreover,  the Commission stated that the majority of minor detainees have been subjected to physical and psychological torture during the different stages of detention, and pointed out that the highest rate of minors arrest is implemented in Jerusalem, where tens of them are getting jailed illegally, in addition to imposing the policy of house custody and high fines against them.

It is worthy to mention that (5000) Palestinian detainees are currently held in Israeli prisons, including (170) minors, (31) women, (18) journalists, (1300) administrative detainees, in addition to (700) sick detainees,  including (200) detainees who need urgent intervention.
