Occupation authorities issued (290) orders of administrative detention last month
The Commission of Detainees' Affairs stated that the Israeli occupation authorities had issued (290) orders of administrative detention, including (146) new orders and (144) renewals. The Israeli authorities tend to use the administrative detention as a means of collective punishment against Palestinians. The Commission stated that using this policy in this way comes in implementation of the decisions of the extremist right wing government, headed by Ben Gvir, and also stated that 90% of administrative detainees are former detainees. The administrative detention is a detention without any charge of trial, where the detainee and his lawyer are prevented from knowing the reason behind the detention, which contradicts the rules of International Humanitarian Law. The Israeli occupation authorities allege that administrative detainees have confidential files that could not be revealed, where the detainee does not know his charge nor his sentence.
