A remarkable increase in the number of administrative detainees

on . Posted in slider

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs confirmed in a report issued today that the number of administrative detainees has lately increased to (1200).

The Commission stated that the Israeli authorities have escalated in issuing administrative detention orders against Palestinian detainees, where (1000) orders have been issued since the beginning of this year.

The Commission also said that the occupation uses the policy of administrative detention as a punitive procedure against Palestinians, and included all categories of the Palestinian society, without taking into account the principles of International law, which limited its use.

The Commission emphasized that the administrative detention is an arbitrary policy that aims at destroying detainees' lives, based on confidential indictments. The orders of administrative detention are usually extended many times for three or six months, and sometimes it is extended to years.

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs called upon  an immediate intervention to stop this massacre and to impose strict limitations on the use of administrative detention, and also called for supporting the steps conducted by administrative detainees.
