High-Level official delegation meets with the Higher Committee for deported released prisoners in Cairo, Egypt

As part of efforts to address the health and treatment needs of released prisoners who were deported and to provide the necessary support to overcome the diseases and health conditions caused by their long years of detention, a high-level official delegation, comprising Head of the Commission of Detainees Affairs Raed Abu Al-Hummos, Deputy Head of the Intelligence Service and Director of Foreign and International Relations Major General Nasser Adawi, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr. Wael Al-Sheikh, met several days ago with the Higher Committee for Deported Released Prisoners, headed by Committee Chairman Ahmed Salim.
The meeting began with the official institutional delegation affirming the sanctity of the rights of deported prisoners, foremost among them their right to health and medical services. The delegation stressed that this issue is receiving the attention of the Palestinian leadership, represented by His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh, and Head of the Intelligence Service Major General Majed Faraj. The leadership has made a clear decision that our prisoners will not be left alone to face the hardships of deportation and separation from their homeland and families, and that diseases and pain will not be allowed to take a toll on their bodies after these long years of struggle and sacrifice.
The delegation stressed that medical treatment would immediately begin for all deported prisoners, through full coordination with the Committee and on the basis of clear and up-to-date medical reports detailing their health conditions and diagnoses. Treatment will be prioritized according to the severity of each case and provided gradually, noting that this comes as a continuation of the health and medical services provided by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The delegation explained to the Committee that, despite the difficult and complex circumstances facing Palestine and its people, and while fully understanding the living conditions imposed on all deported released prisoners, we remain determined to work jointly and cooperate fully until they attain the dignified life they deserve in its entirety.
The delegation and the Committee discussed all details related to their situation and the broader efforts to address their needs. Work is underway with all relevant parties to achieve this, based on the firm belief that they deserve to live in peace and stability and to free themselves from pain and suffering of prisons and detention centers and their impact on their lives and future.
The delegation conveyed the greetings of the Palestinian leadership to the deported prisoners and their families, stressing that unwavering faith in relief and freedom gives us the strength and determination to continue working toward the ultimate goal: achieving complete liberation from the occupation.
