Remarkable increase in administrative detention orders

The Commission of Detainees' Affairs confirmed in a report issued today, that the number of administrative detainees in Israeli prisons had increased to (1000) , which is the highest rate since years.

The Commission stated that the Israeli authorities escalated in issuing administrative detention orders against Palestinian detainees,  where (1600) orders have been issued since the beginning of the year.

The Commission indicated that the Israeli occupation uses the policy of administrative detention as a means of collective punishment against Palestinians, without taking into consideration the standards of international law,  which limited its use.

The Commission pointed out that the administrative detention is an arbitrary policy aimed at destroying the morale of detainees under feeble excuses.
The sentence of administrative detention might be extended for 3_6 months, and sometimes it is extended for years.
