
M.G Abu Baker: the occupation authorities proceed with practicing their deliberate policy in medical ignorance against detainees
The head of the Commission of Detainees' Affairs, Qadri Abu Baker, confirmed that the occupation authorities still practicing the policy of medical ignorance against Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
Abu Baker stated that the detainee Naser Abu Hmaid, who suffers from cancer, was the last victim of this policy, where the occupation authorities stopped his chemotherapy, and refused to release him , claiming that there is no decision to release detainees earlier eventhough after their martyrdom.
He also said that there are many sick detainees in Israeli prisons left without any medical assistance, and they are only given painkillers.
Abu Baker stressed on the necessity to send physicians to follow up the health condition of detainees in general and sick ones in particular.
The Commission called on the Israeli authorities to conduct medical examinations every 6 months, in order to reveal any chronic diseases at early stages.
Abu Baker referred to the continuous request by the World Health Organisation and Human Rights organisations to follow up the health conditions of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
